Historic Time Line of Events

     Part 1

Middleborough is the correct spelling of the Town.  It is also spelled as Middleboro.  This site is devoted to bringing information of the Town of Middleborough to the people.  The proposed Middleboro Resort Casino, Middleboro Casino or what ever one wishes to call it, is an important issue.  If you would like Middleboro Casino Facts or more, Please feel free to ask.  This site can be reached through Middleboroughnews.com or Middleboronews.com.

Cirelli's Classic Cruise Nights - (Saturdays, starting June 7)

 

Cirelli's Marketplace is sponsoring a Classic Car Cruise night from 4 pm to 8 pm at their location on Commerce Blvd. in Middleborough, Massachusetts. Local non-profit groups will be providing food and beverages for a nominal fee and all are welcome.  Additional information can be found on their website.

Directions:  Take Exit 6 off of Route 495 and follow Route 44 East to Middleborough, travel 3/4 the way around the rotary and take Route 18 North toward Bridgewater, then take the first right onto Commerce Boulevard, the entrance to Cirelli Foods is on the left.

 

Farmers Market - Town Hall - (Saturdays, starting June 14)

 

The Farmers Market starts up again on Saturdays, June 14 on the Town Hall Front Lawn.

 

Farmers Market - Cirelli's- (Fridays, starting June 20)

 

Cirelli's will host the Farmers Market on Fridays, June 20 at their location on Commerce Boulevard.

 

Middleborough Library - (Events daily throughout the summer)

 

The Pierce Library in Middleborough offers events daily throughout the summer.  Most of the events are free to the public.  The Library is located across from the police station on North Main Street.  The weekly events are generally posted on their home page.  The summer reading program calendar is available here.

 

Middleborough Music Nights - (Thursdays, starting July 10)

 

The Middleborough Music Nights at the Town Hall Lawn on Thursday Nights from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM starts July 10 and runs through August 28.  Eight events are scheduled.  Each of these nights are free, so bring a lawn chair and enjoy a night of music.  Refreshments will be available, raffles and much more.

 

Soule Homestead Concert Series - (Saturdays, July 12 through August 23, 2008)

 

The Soule Homestead Saturday Evening Concert Series starts July 12, 2008 and runs through August 23, 2008.  Cover charge of $7 or a season pass s available or $40.  More information is available at the Concert Series website.

June 12 - Flag Day Celebration at the Elks

The Middleborough Elks Lodge is celebrating Flag Day with music and ceremony open to the public starting at 7:00 PM.

 

June 26 - Middleborough Circus

The Lions Club is sponsoring the Middleborough Circus for two shows on  June 26 behind the Middleborough High School on East Grove Street.  The first show is at 4:30 PM and the second is 7:30 PM.  Tickets in advance are available throughout town.  Tickets are $5 for children and $9 for adults when purchased in advance ($6 and $12 at the tent).

 

July

 

July 1-6 - Middleborough Carnival

The Annual Parks Department Carnival is scheduled to come to Middleborough with fireworks on July 2.  The Schedule of events includes ride and activities for the whole family.  The Greasy pole is always a fan favorite.  For more information on this and other Parks Department events, visit their website.

 

July 4 - 79th Annual North Middleborough 4th of July Parade

The 79th annual North Middleborough 4th of July parade steps off from the Pratt Free School at 10:00 AM, heads down Plymouth Street to Titicut Street where it turns and finds it way back to its starting point.

 

July 12 - Rotary Club Arts and Crafts Fair

The Middleborough Rotary Club will host its annual Arts and Crafts Fair on the Town Hall Laws on July 12.

 

July 18, 19, 25, 26 - The Miss Firecracker Contest

The Nemasket Rive Productions presents Beth Henley's The Miss Firecracker Contest.

Performances to be held at the newly renovated, fully accessible and air-conditioned Early Childhood Center on Route 105, North Main Street, Middleborough.  Opening Night Reception at 7pm on July 18th Curtain at 8pm.

General Admission $16, Senior/Students $14.

July 19 - Lorenzo's presents Joey B

Joey B Sings the Songs of Sinatra under the Stars at Lorenzo's on Route 28 in Middleborough.  Music, dance and as always the superb dining that is Lorenzo's.  Dinner is from 5 PM to 8 PM with the show starting at 7 PM.  Casual attire, $10 cover charge, $15.95 for choice of dinner.  Call 508-947-3000 for more information and reservations.

 

July 27 - Ice Cream Social

Celebrating National Ice Cream Month in Middleborough, the Historic Society hosts a social on their grounds at 18 Jackson Street, Middleborough from 2 to 4 PM.  Musicians and a puppet show will be fun for the whole family.  Tickets are $5 for Adults, $2.50 for children 2 to 12 and under 2 are Free.

August 2 & 3 - F.L. Chamberlain School - 1st Annual Art Exposition on Titicut Green

 The Art Exposition on Titicut Green will be held outdoors from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.  Titicut Green is located at the intersection of Pleasant and Plymouth Streets in Middleborough.  Rain dates August 9 & 10.

August 6 - Joe Masi Weenie Roast

The park department will be hosting the annual Joe Masi Weenie Roast at Battis Field.  Costs are always kept a minimum so bring out the whole family for a fun time.  For more information, call the park department at 946-2440

 

August 29 to 31 - East Middleborough 4-H Livestock Fair

The annual East Middleborough 4-H Livestock Fair on Thompson Street will be held this year from August 29 to 31.  More information to follow.

 

August 30 - New England Blues Festival

The New England Blues Festival celebrates with Red White and Blues from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM on August 30, 2008 at Battis Field.  Tickets are available in advance locally or online.  For more information visit the New England Blues Festival website.

September 27 - Pratt Farm Fall Festival

A staple in Middleborough, the Pratt Farm Fall Festival is always a good free day of fun for the whole family.  Crafters, vendors and entertainers will be on hand.  Wood Spirit will be performing from Noon to 4 PM.

The farm is protected by the Middleborough Conservation Commission and is open year round.  Conveniently located on Route 105 just north of Middleborough Center on the right.

October 4 - Middleborough Friends Pancake Breakfast

The Middleborough Friends are holding a pancake breakfast at the Simmons Center on Plymouth Street to benefit the COA.  More information can be found on their website at www.middleboroughfriends.com.

 

October 10, 11, 17, 18, 24 and 26 - Jake's Women

The Nemasket Rive Productions presents Neil Simon's Jake's Women.

Performances to be held at the Middleborough Town Hall Black Box Theater , fully accessible on Route 105, Middleborough.  The curtain rises at 8:00 PM.

November 1 - Halloween Gala at the Grand Ballroom - Town Hall

The First Annual Halloween Gala will be held at the haunted grand ballroom at the Middleborough Town Hall on Nickerson Street.  There are no promises of ghost sightings but a ghoulishly good time is expected.  The event will be hosted by the Middleborough Friends.  More information can be found on their website at www.middleboroughfriends.com.
